The album, featuring Roger Waters and Lucius, on Prine's Hello In There, will be released on vinyl in October. If you were fortunate enough to get an order in, you should already have access to a digital download.
The album marks Roger Waters second appearance at the Newport Folk Festival. Waters played a set of his own in 2015 with My Morning Jacket.
On the Prine album:
"Recorded during the 2017 Newport Folk Festival, John Prine and Friends is the first-ever release of this celebrated and unique performance. Joining John on stage during this once-in-a-lifetime set were some of our very dear friends including (in order of appearance) Justin Vernon, Jim James, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff, Lucius, and Roger Waters."
John Prine and Friends was been mixed "from the original multi-tracks and mastered specifically for this vinyl release."
Orders were limited to three per person: the "limited edition 2-record set will be pressed on premium 180-gram vinyl and housed in a deluxe Stoughton old-style tip-on gatefold jacket."
"Proceeds from the sale support the Newport Festivals Foundation’s ongoing initiatives to aid musicians in need and music programs across the country."
Last year, Roger Water and Lucius released the above video, "from 'Our Voices Together', a film about the Newport Folk Festival."
